Known as “True Incense,” Frankincense comes from Boswellia sacra—a name also used interchangeably with Boswellia carterii. The word “Frankincense” originates from the Arabic al-lubân, meaning perfume incense. In Ayurvedic medicine, it is traditionally used for various skin conditions. The essential oil is extracted by distilling the aromatic resin, or oleoresin, once it has hardened.
